The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Senior Event Planning Officer to support our South Florida Development team.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

We are looking for a mission-driven Senior Event Planning Officer who will be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all the fundraising events within the South Florida Region. In this role, you will build strong working relationships with both internal and external partners to ensure the overall success of all the events. Incumbents will also engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective event donors in expanding their financial support of the work of the American Red Cross.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD:

  • Oversees organizes, plans, manages, and executes fundraising events for the South Florida Region of the American Red Cross.
  • Ensures events are properly organized, successful, and cost-effective and remain on budget.
  • Conceptualizes and plans event pitches and briefs for the events department.
  • Creates and oversees all event aesthetics such as design & theme while meeting ARC brand standards.
  • Manages event outreach and contracting (vendor booking, management, and contract negotiations).
  • Creates and manages all timelines, floorplans, table charts, seating, run of show, rehearsal schedule, revenue tracking, and other needed documents.
  • Manages internal events team and external events company to ensure all tasks are met and done in a timely manner.
  • Executes events overseeing staff (internal and external), managing event elements from beginning to end day of; set-up, run of the show, talent, volunteers, vendors, flow, and breakdown.
  • Oversees event recapping and collects all payments and pays all needed vendors.
  • Provide leadership and direction to executive staff, local boards, and event committees in the effective development and execution of events to raise funds required to fund Red Cross operations and programs within the South Florida Community.
  • Work to identify and solicit unmanaged donors and convert event-only donors to mission donors by effectively stewarding and identifying their affinity to the Red Cross mission.
  • Work with staff to ensure compliance with donor relations "best practices", including acknowledgment, special recognition, and successful maintenance of donor tracking systems.
  • Manage a select portfolio of event donors and prospects with the intent to form deep relationships.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum seven years of sales and/or event fundraising experience required.
  • A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred
  • Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.
  • Travel: Frequent travel within the Region required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move 15 to 30 pounds.
  • May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations.
  • The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in a small cubicle and the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
  • Overall mobility is essential.
  • It may also include driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.
